This uncomplicated and easy to ride trail begins at Taupo’s Boat Harbour, where you'll find a buzz of boaties and lake-based activities. The Lion's Walk is all about easy cruising, so feel free to join the trail anywhere along the lake edge from Taupo. Take a picnic and enjoy a day beside New Zealand's largest lake, or reward yourself with a nice meal at one of the many lakefront restaurants along the trail.

As you travel out of town, the trail leads into quieter more secluded bays, traveling past holiday homes, with moored boats and lovely picnic areas. There are a number of places to stop and eat al fresco, with small beaches for swimming and resting.

The trail concludes at Five Mile Bay, from here you can turn around and enjoy a casual ride back to the centre of Taupo. This ride will provide the perfect healthy, relaxing and calming activity for your trip to Taupo.
